No new handloom infrastructure planned for western Odisha, government says

What the government said

• Implementation of Raw Material Supply Scheme (RMSS) and National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP).
• RMSS provides freight reimbursement for all yarn types and a 15% price subsidy on cotton hank yarn, domestic silk, wool, linen, and blended natural fibre yarns.
• Marketing support via Handloom Expos, Craft Melas, Dilli Haat, and the India Handmade e-commerce portal.
• Promotion of India Handloom Brand (IHB) and Handloom Mark certification.
• Export promotion through the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) and participation in international fairs like Bharat Tex.
• Financial assistance of Rs. 110.05 lakh provided in Odisha for cluster development and modernization in Sambalpur district over the last three years.
• Training of 272 handloom workers from Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, and Balangir districts under the SAMARTH scheme in the last three years.
• Establishment of a Design Resource Centre at the Weavers' Service Centre in Bhubaneswar.
