PM-SGMBY budget rises to ₹22,000 crore in 2026-27

The question asked the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to provide details on the financial allocation for the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY) in Budget 2026-27, installation rates, and the scheme's contribution to manufacturing and energy targets.

What the government said

• MNRE budget increased from Rs. 25,301.22 Cr (2025-26 Revised) to Rs. 32,914.67 Cr (2026-27 Budget Estimate).
• PM-SGMBY budget increased from Rs. 17,000 Cr (2025-26 Revised) to Rs. 22,000 Cr (2026-27 Budget Estimate).
• Installation rate for covering one lakh households reduced from 'few months' to around 6 days.
• As of 04.08.2026, 77,44,376 applications received with 14.8 GW cumulative installed capacity.
• Over 50 lakh households benefited with ₹28,024 crore in Central Financial Assistance (CFA).
• Basic Customs Duty (BCD) waived on sodium antimonate for solar glass and on capital goods for lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
• Solar power generation capacity of over 14.65 GW added till 31.7.2026, contributing to the 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030.
