• Identification and development of tourist destinations is primarily the responsibility of State Governments.
• Central assistance is provided through schemes: Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0), Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD), and PRASHAD.
• Financial assistance is subject to adherence to guidelines, submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and fund availability.
• Under PRASHAD, a project for the Development of Belur Math was sanctioned in 2016-17 with an amount of ₹30.03 Crore (₹23.39 Crore utilized).
• Under Swadesh Darshan, the Coastal Circuit (Udaipur to Henry Island) was sanctioned in 2015-16 with an amount of ₹67.99 Crore (₹65.07 Crore utilized).
• The Swadesh Darshan portal has been opened to invite proposals from all States/UTs for the SD 2.0 Scheme.
• Sanctioning is a continuous process based on proposal appraisal and fund availability.
