Telangana gets ₹323.32 lakh, ₹291.68 lakh, ₹302.34 lakh, ₹208.67 lakh for wildlife conflict management

What the government said

• Rs. 323.32 lakhs, Rs. 291.68 lakhs, Rs. 302.34 lakhs, and Rs. 208.67 lakhs released to Telangana for FY 2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 respectively under the Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats scheme.
• Support includes early warning systems, physical barriers (solar electric fencing, bio-fencing, trenches), and Rapid Response Teams.
• In the last decade, Telangana reported no human deaths due to elephants and only 3 human deaths due to tiger attacks.
• Ex-gratia relief for death or permanent incapacitation was increased from Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs in December 2023.
• Ex-gratia for grievous injury is Rs. 2.00 lakh, and for minor injury, treatment costs up to Rs. 25,000 per person.
• A Centre of Excellence for Human–Wildlife Conflict Management was established at SACON, WII–South India Centre, Coimbatore.
