Cooperation Ministry confirms two committees formed to monitor 2025 policy

The MPs asked the Ministry of Cooperation to provide details on the implementation progress of the National Cooperative Policy 2025, the number of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) added to the database or computerized, and the status of the National Cooperative Database, specifically for West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Palghar district.

What the government said

• Both the National Steering Committee on Cooperation Policy and the Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee have been constituted.
• The Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee held its first meeting on 09.06.2026.
• The Ministry of Cooperation has taken 152 initiatives in furtherance of the National Cooperative Policy, 2025.
• As of 15.07.2026, there are 1,12,895 PACS across the country, of which 1,07,457 are functional.
• Since the plan approval on 15.02.2023, a total of 10,225 new Multipurpose PACS (M-PACS) have been registered.
• The Central Sector Project for Computerization of PACS covers 79,630 PACS with a financial outlay of ₹2,925.39 Crore.
• As of 15.07.2026, 63,707 PACS have been onboarded on ERP software and 54,707 PACS have been declared as e-PACS.
• The National Cooperative Database (NCD) contains information on over 8.5 lakh cooperative societies across 30 economic sectors with approximately 30 crore members.
• West Bengal has 4,851 functional PACS and 32,190 total cooperative societies.
• Maharashtra has 21,212 functional PACS and 2,27,177 total cooperative societies.
• Palghar district in Maharashtra has 10,186 cooperative societies.
