10.58 crore PMUY connections achieved despite 2026 LPG supply crisis

What the government said

• Total PMUY connections reached 10.58 crore as of 01.07.2026.
• Effective price for PMUY beneficiaries in Delhi is Rs. 642 per 14.2 kg cylinder, compared to Rs. 942 for non-PMUY consumers.
• Government paid Rs. 22,000 crore compensation to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in FY 2022-23 and is paying Rs. 30,000 crore in FY 2025-26 and 2026-27.
• Accumulated under-recoveries of PSU OMCs on domestic LPG exceeded Rs. 51,000 crore as of 30.06.2026.
• Per connection consumption of PMUY beneficiaries increased from 3.68 cylinders/year in FY 2021-22 to 4.71 in FY 2025-26.
• Over 12.12 crore free basic safety checks and more than 4.65 crore LPG hose replacements were conducted during the 2024-25 safety campaign.
• A NITI Aayog report (April 2026) cited that 74.27% of beneficiaries reported reduced indoor air pollution and 80.78% reported reduced cough/breathlessness.
• During the March-June 2026 supply crisis, over 56 crore domestic LPG cylinders were delivered, including over 12 crore to Ujjwala families.
