No central funds to Himachal Pradesh for courts in 2021-23

The government responded by providing data on court halls, residential units, and funds released under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme and eCourts project.

What the government said

• As of 31.05.2026, Karnataka has 1,278 court halls and 1,199 residential units against a sanctioned strength of 1,398 judges.
• As of 31.05.2026, Himachal Pradesh has 180 court halls and 161 residential units against a sanctioned strength of 192 judges.
• In the last five years, Karnataka completed 586 court halls and 129 residential units, while Himachal Pradesh completed 4 court halls and 0 residential units.
• As of 31.05.2026, 218 court halls and 46 residential units are under construction in Karnataka; 36 court halls and 5 residential units are under construction in Himachal Pradesh.
• Central funds released to Karnataka ranged from Rs. 27.00 crore (2021-22) to Rs. 133.16 crore (2023-24).
• Central funds released to Himachal Pradesh were Rs. 0.00 crore in 2021-22 and 2022-23, rising to Rs. 13.62 crore in 2024-25.
• For FY 2026-27, Mother Sanctions of Rs. 5.33 crore were issued to Karnataka and Rs. 5.195 crore to Himachal Pradesh.
• Under Phase III of the eCourts Project, Rs. 151.73 crore was released to the High Court of Karnataka and Rs. 20.66 crore to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh for digitalization.
