What the government said

• KVs are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence & Para-Military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Central Institute of Higher Learning (IHL)
• KVs are not opened on the criteria of population/ area/ Parliamentary Constituency /District or State/UT
• At present, a total of 62 KVs, including one KV at Berhampore, District Murshidabad, are functioning in the State of West Bengal
• No feasible proposal for opening of a new KV in Murshidabad Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency of West Bengal has been received by KVS from the concerned State Government / district administration.
