What the government said

• Total of 5.00 crore households and 8.30 crore workers included under MGNREGS from FY 2021-22 to FY 2026-27 (as on 22.07.2026)
• Section 6 of VB-GRAMG Act, 2025 provides for a 60-day pause in implementation during peak sowing/harvesting seasons
• No agriculture or allied work was discontinued from MGNREGS permissible works list in last five years
• Revised list of permissible works under VB-GRAMG Act, 2025 emphasizes Water Security, Core Rural Infrastructure, Livelihood-related Infrastructure, and Mitigation of Extreme Weather Events
