No new NHB regional office planned for Anantapur, existing Vijayawada office covers state

The government responded with details on horticulture growth, existing NHB coverage, and ongoing schemes.

What the government said

• Horticulture area in Anantapur increased from 75,000 Ha in 2014-15 to 1,72,833 Ha in 2025-26.
• Horticulture production in Anantapur increased from 14,25,000 MTs in 2014-15 to 32,63,251 MTs in 2025-26.
• NHB has 29 field offices nationwide, with the Vijayawada office covering the entire Andhra Pradesh state.
• The Government has no proposal to establish a new NHB Regional Office in Anantapur.
• 2,20,074 hectares in Anantapur have been brought under micro-irrigation via the Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component since 2015-16.
• 6.32 lakh Kisan Credit Card (KCC) beneficiary accounts in Anantapur received an interest subsidy of ₹215.82 crore under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) in FY 2025-26.
• 375 projects worth ₹73.86 crore were sanctioned in Anantapur under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).
• NHB sanctioned 9 projects in Anantapur for open field/protected cultivation and cold storage in the last 5 years.
